Love
As the song by DC Talk says "Love is a verb". Love is not something
that you can just say and not have anything to back it up with, you
have to show it also. I remember the first time my husband said he
loved me. It was my birthday, the first time he met my family. He gave
me a card and in it he wrote " I think I love you". I didn't know what
to say. We had just been going out with each other for about a month
then. I could not reciprocate by saying that because it was so early.
It did not take me long to know that I did in fact, love him. Over
almost 4 years of marriage I know that he truly loves me and I him. In the first 6 months of marriage he had to show his love for me that some people will never have to do. If he can do the things that he did then and still do them now, I know that we have the strongest relationship ever.
Love comes in many forms, there is the love of a parent for their child. They will do anything for that child and can say things that the child may not agree with, but it does not mean that the parent does not love that child any less.
There is the love between friends, where you can talk about anything and know it will not go any further, but will also tell you the truth even though it may hurt your feelings when they say it.
There is the love of brothers and sisters. That is a bond that no matter what you can still get along. That even though they may have hurt you whoa be unto the person that tries to put them down.
There is the love of a husband and wife that at times it may be hard to love them, but you do any way because God has put you together and you have to go through it and work the situation out.
Then there is the love of God. That love cannot be explained, cannot change. He sent His son to die for us. How many of us would send their only son to die for people that he does not know? (John 3:16a 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son)
In life we are given many chances to love different people and things. So do not be afraid to love someone. You never know how it may change the rest of your life. I know that it has changed mine and I would not have it any other way.
